"10 Ways to Keep your Data Secure"

In a new world of social media, data security should be the top priority of each and every user. There is a spawning of hackers that prey on data especially those are truly valuable for their taking. To prevent this from happening, we must always be aware, cautious and certain that our data is safe. Listed below will be my 10 ways on how to keep your data safe.

1.      Go Incognito – Whenever you access another computer, always make sure to use private browsing so that any cookies, cache, passwords and etc. would be off the record and you don’t have to bother clearing them out once you’re done because private browsing does that for you.

2.      Your greatest secret is your password – Never ever tell your password to anyone either online or maybe even personal. Don’t write your password in a message nor save your password in any site even if it is a popular one such as Facebook. Your password should remain a secret and to be known to you alone.

3.      Medicine as for the body, as antivirus for the computer – Some would say that you drink medicine if you already have an illness but you use antivirus to prevent from getting any malware or other types of virus. Yes, that is true but still both can be done to help you recover and secure your essentials like your body and your computer.

4.      It’s a Trap – You got to be always aware of what you click or see especially nowadays wherein click baits are rampant. You have to always make sure that whatever site you’re in that is safe, secure and trusted.

5.      Public WiFi is a big No – You think you’re glad to be able to have an access to a place where there is a public WiFi. Little did you know that Public WiFis can easily be accessed by hackers too. When you’re connected to that WiFi, then that gives a window for the hackers to access through your device and to your data as well.

6.      Don’t fall for the easy money – Whenever you play online games, there will be players who are superior especially in their level or items. There will be times that some of those users will hassle another one and ask for his/her password for a so-called “gift item”. When you give your password to that player, the next thing you know that you’ve been hacked and have become the gift item for that person.

7.      Download responsibly – Every single day we download a lot of stuff for a lot of reasons. Before you download, make sure that it is legitimate and safe or else you might not actually download a file, but the virus instead.

8.      Have a backup – Who knows what might happen to your file storage, so always ensure that you create backup for your files in another drive or perhaps in a trusted site like Google Drive.

9.      Move on – I didn’t mean move on from a breakup but instead when you delete your old or unused files, make sure that you delete it completely from your recycle bin or from online storage so that it can never be accessed or retrieve by others with bad intentions.

10.  Poser Alert – Today, having posers are rampant. Those posers intentions may vary but at the end of the day, someone is still impersonating another and that’s an issue of identity theft and may lead to a lot of trouble especially for the impersonated.
