"10 Ways to Keep your Data Secure"

In a new world of social media, data security should be the top priority of each and every user. There is a spawning of hackers that prey on data especially those are truly valuable for their taking. To prevent this from happening, we must always be aware, cautious and certain that our data is safe. Listed below will be my 10 ways on how to keep your data safe.

1.      Go Incognito – Whenever you access another computer, always make sure to use private browsing so that any cookies, cache, passwords and etc. would be off the record and you don’t have to bother clearing them out once you’re done because private browsing does that for you.

2.      Your greatest secret is your password – Never ever tell your password to anyone either online or maybe even personal. Don’t write your password in a message nor save your password in any site even if it is a popular one such as Facebook. Your password should remain a secret and to be known to you alone.

3.      Medicine as for the body, as antivirus for the computer – Some would say that you drink medicine if you already have an illness but you use antivirus to prevent from getting any malware or other types of virus. Yes, that is true but still both can be done to help you recover and secure your essentials like your body and your computer.

4.      It’s a Trap – You got to be always aware of what you click or see especially nowadays wherein click baits are rampant. You have to always make sure that whatever site you’re in that is safe, secure and trusted.

5.      Public WiFi is a big No – You think you’re glad to be able to have an access to a place where there is a public WiFi. Little did you know that Public WiFis can easily be accessed by hackers too. When you’re connected to that WiFi, then that gives a window for the hackers to access through your device and to your data as well.

6.      Don’t fall for the easy money – Whenever you play online games, there will be players who are superior especially in their level or items. There will be times that some of those users will hassle another one and ask for his/her password for a so-called “gift item”. When you give your password to that player, the next thing you know that you’ve been hacked and have become the gift item for that person.

7.      Download responsibly – Every single day we download a lot of stuff for a lot of reasons. Before you download, make sure that it is legitimate and safe or else you might not actually download a file, but the virus instead.

8.      Have a backup – Who knows what might happen to your file storage, so always ensure that you create backup for your files in another drive or perhaps in a trusted site like Google Drive.

9.      Move on – I didn’t mean move on from a breakup but instead when you delete your old or unused files, make sure that you delete it completely from your recycle bin or from online storage so that it can never be accessed or retrieve by others with bad intentions.

10.  Poser Alert – Today, having posers are rampant. Those posers intentions may vary but at the end of the day, someone is still impersonating another and that’s an issue of identity theft and may lead to a lot of trouble especially for the impersonated.

“Good design goes to heaven; bad design goes everywhere.”

Dieter Rams: 10 Timeless Commandments for Good Design Who is Dieter Rams, first of all? Dieter Rams is a German industrial designer who was responsible for the design of Braun’s consumer products for many years. About 50 years ago, in his quest to answer the question “Is my design a good design?”, he developed the 10 principles of good design , sometimes also known as 10 commandments. It’s amazing to see how valid these principles are today, so much that we might feel than even more than back then, when Rams actually wrote them! According to Dieter Rams, good design: Is innovative Makes a product useful Is aesthetic Makes a product understandable Is unobtrusive Is honest Is long-lasting Is thorough down to the last detail Is environmentally friendly Involves as little design as possible For the full explanation and major credits to: https://www.interaction-design.org/literature/article/dieter-rams-10-timeless-commandments-for-good-design You m

E-Blog 02: "Ang Probinsyano" vs PNP

We recently discussed the dispute between “Ang Probinsyano” and the Philippine National Police. We had to pick out our partners and we had to choose which side we’re on. Well, before picking any side, my partner and I had to first watch the video regarding the said dispute because we have no idea what is happening between them. That may be because we don’t watch the TV series, or the news nor do we care about such matters, frankly speaking. After knowing about it, that’s the only time we were able to pick sides. Individually, we gathered 3 important pieces of evidence that would support our claim. Later on, we discussed it with our partners then compiled our works into a single Powerpoint presentation.  Afterwards, the class was divided into two: those which sided with “Ang Probinsyano” and those with the PNP. We had to write in the board all the things that made our claim right and as well, writing those which would make the opposing side wrong. After such, our teacher, being on a ne
